White House | Black Market owns a total of 440 stores: 351 boutique and 24 outlet stores located throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and United States Virgin Islands. From its beginning in 1985, as The White House, a tiny women’s boutique White House | Black Market offered only white and ivory clothing and fashion accessories from its Baltimore, Maryland area. The owners of The White House then opened Black Market in 1995. In 1997, White House | Black Market stores combined the two. Since 2003, White House | Black Market has been a subordinate of Chico’s FAS, Inc.
