Hermès recently unveiled its new store in Ginza, Tokyo, marking its second presence in this prestigious district within the Mitsukoshi retail landmark. Designed by the renowned Parisian architecture firm RDAI, the store exudes Hermès’ signature elegance while capturing the vibrant essence of Ginza.

Store layout and design

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a striking mosaic floor in shades of yellow and pink, leading into a space adorned with rose-toned wavy panels. The store is meticulously organized:

  • Front Area: Features a curated selection of perfumes, home accessories, women’s silk, and fashion jewelry.
  • Middle Area: Showcases the leather and equestrian collections.
  • Right Wing: Houses the watch and jewelry section.
  • Left Wing: Leads to two fitting rooms, a lounge, and three salons dedicated to women’s and men’s shoes, and ready-to-wear collections.

Design elements

  • Color Palette: The interior palette includes red, pink, taupe, mauve, amber, and yellow hues, complemented by warm cedar wood paneling and cherry wood furniture.
  • Details: Grecques lights and Faubourg mosaic designs are intricately incorporated into the speckled terrazzo flooring.
  • Textures: Walls are adorned with wallpapers and woven fabrics in soft neutral tones, adding layers of texture and warmth.

Artistic touches

  • Émile Hermès Collection: Curated pieces from this collection are displayed, alongside photographs from the Hermès Collection of Contemporary Photographs.
  • Window Art: French artists Zim and Zou have created captivating artworks for the store’s windows, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere of the opening.

Global expansion

In addition to the Ginza store, Hermès recently expanded its presence in Hong Kong by reopening an enhanced store in Lee Gardens, Causeway Bay, underscoring its strategic focus on key global markets.
